It all began in 1978 when I was living in Tucson, Arizona. My barber noticed a pattern of male baldness. I was only 23 at that time and I thought my problem was the excessive use of a hair dryer over a period of seven months. I couldn’t accept that I could be going bald at such an early age!
I threw away my hair dryer and began typical hair retention treatments, including oils, shampoos and vitamins. Despite my best efforts, however, the hair loss continued.
I then began to investigate my family history to determine if there were hereditary patterns of hair loss. I persisted with the topical treatments but still my hair loss continued. It seemed as if it was a familial propecia 5mg problem with no ready solution.
The only alternative appeared to be to simply accept my premature balding, but I so disliked that idea that I was inspired to continue my research into finding a solution.
Next, I looked at environmental factors. Prior to my moving to Arizona in 1976, I had a full head of hair. Several changes had occurred from 1976 to 1978 during my residence in Arizona:
- I relocated from a Northeastern to Southwestern climate.
- My change of diet.
These two factors stood out prominently in my mind. Many people, including me, have experienced climate changes with few, if any, adverse effects. The only factor left to consider was my change of diet.
I realized that my diet has not been nutritionally balanced during the entire time I lived in Arizona.
As a result of this illumination, I began to more closely examine the hair growth process.
Now it was a question of how to feed the follicles. I knew from personal experience that topical treatments wouldn’t work. I needed to feed the follicles from inside with essential nutrients.
How in fact does anything grow, we might ask? It must be properly fed! I then concluded that my hair loss could be a result of my hair not receiving the necessary nutrients.
The hair follicle that stimulates growth could in fact be dying due to the lack of proper nutrition. I proposed that quite possibly I would need to get to the root of the problem and feed the follicles. Should I feed the follicles with topical treatments?
My own experience taught that this had not been very effective. Most healthy individuals have a well balanced nutritional diet. How is this then linked to the hair?
