For instance…let me tell you why that famous baby shampoo will not cause the baby to cry when those bubbles slide down that sweet little face into those big brown or baby blues…it is because the PH balance of the shampoo has been scientifically made to match the PH balance of the tear duct. This means there is no conflict, no irritation which causes no tears.
Do not use just any kind of shampoo or cleansing product on your hair. You do not clean a shag carpet the way you clean indoor /outdoor carpet.
Be loving to your hair and scalp. Buy products that support, feed, and nourish. Go to beauty supply stores where you can buy professional products that are affordable.
Ask questions. Most companies are turning green and organic…just note that all you need is 3% of something to call it special…so READ THE LABELS….you want to know what you are putting on your head.
Change your products often…usually ever season. Don’t buy a bucket size.
Some I recommend:
THE ONE can be found at Sally’s shop. ORGANIC SHEA MOISTURE with raw shea butter, can be found at Target and Walgreen’s. CAROL’S DAUGHTER can be found on HSN on TV.
SAMSON’S SECRET herbal liquid concentrate can be poured into any shampoo you buy for added nutrients.
Using shampoos or cleansers:
For years I would ask my customers…”Why are you scrubbing your hair and scalp like you walk on it?” Unless your job or life is dirty…there is no need to clean your hair and scalp so hard. Most people just want a nice massage on the scalp…and that’s understandable…two different things going on here. Squeaky hair can also be stripped hair. Stripped hair becomes weak and easily break.
BAD shampoos can strip and be quite harsh because of what they are made of and bubbles do not equal a clean head of hair…sometimes the very opposite would occur…leaving a film.
Dandruff…most believe was a serious condition…only to find out that once a natural clarifying or organic shampoo was applied the flakes or the build up would disappear.
Another possible reason for those flakes is using a creamy, heavy shampoo. I changed my customers shampoo and conditioner every time the seasons changed…both at my salon and for their home care.
My customers are taught to use two different shampoos every time you shampoo your hair…one for cleansing or clarifying and the other for conditioning. Today, many herbal shampoos do both.
SPECIAL NOTE: sometimes a squeak is not the indicator that your hair is clean. How your hair behaves when styled is how you know when your hair is really clean.
Sometimes, I would pre-condition before shampooing. Not just for chemical care….for everyone…even a simple shampoo and blow dry. This would give the hair a treat to prepare for the shampoo that may strip.
Seek out a professional and find what works for you.
