He goes to the Salon to get a manicure, pedicure, and a facial….how cool!
So when and how did this new “MAN” emerge from the midst of us?
What does a man like this think when he is sitting there….in the center of all the ladies…nails and fingers gently soaking….feet being massaged….and face wonderfully being turned into an amazingly gorgeousness of himself? When I was in high school…..grooming was part of the curriculum….like reading, writing, and arithmetic. It was an embarrassment for anyone to not be cleaned, manicured, and well-groomed. At that time, the well-groomed….clean/neat guys…got the girls.
HELP YOUR GUY GET HIS …GROOM ON”? Maybe he isn’t a salon kind of guy. How about creating a salon day for him at home! A HOME MANICURE…see instructions below
A Man’s Manicure
What you’ll need
Cotton pads (don’t use cotton balls, which have too much lint.)
Wooden manicure stick
Emery board
Warm water in a bowl (you can add scented oils or salt.)
Base coat (optional)
Do not use nail clippers, instead file holding at a 45° angle, using the emery board flat against the edge of your nail.
Tip: File in one direction toward the center. Avoid painful hangnail by not filing too deeply at the sides. Ideally, men’s nails should show a semicircle of white nail ¼ inch beyond the fingertip.
Apply a small amount of cuticle serum, oil or cream to each nail.
Soak in dish-washing liquid and warm water for about ten minutes. This softens the cuticle, loosens any dirt lodged under and around the nail, and removes any little filing particles that might still be on his nails.
Use a soft flat nail brush to scrub his nails as well as the skin on his hands.
Optional: A pumice stone moistened in the warm water can soften rough edges around his fingernails as well as any calluses on his palms and fingers. Pumice also removes most stains…..where soap miss.
Should he need any additional cuticle pushing at the base of the nail, gently use an wooden manicure stick or an implement that has a rubber point. Avoid a metal instrument here.
Dry his hands thoroughly and gently push back the cuticle at the base of his nails with a washcloth. Apply cuticle remover (preferably a cream or oil type) and gently push back the cuticle with a cotton-wrapped orange stick, as the cuticle rim at the base of the nail is delicate and is there to protect the nail bed. Do not use a metal cuticle pusher.
Special Note: Cut only hang nails with a cuticle scissors or trimmers, but do not cut the rim that protects the nail bed. Wash off any cuticle remover from the nail, as this is a strong chemical and should not be left on the nails.
Clean under the nail with an orange stick…for stubborn stains or dirt that has remained embedded under the nail for some time, dip the cotton-wrapped stick in hydrogen peroxide. Rinse off. Apply hand cream or lotion at this stage.
Buff nails to improve circulation and smooth the appearance of the nail’s surface. Buff gently in one direction only to prevent the nail from getting too hot. Buff for a nice shine.
Now it is time for him to show his thanks and appreciation…..no details, please….this is a G-rated blog.
